One of the allied health professions is physical therapy (PT), commonly known as physiotherapy. Physical therapists use physical examination, diagnosis, prognosis, patient education, physical intervention, rehabilitation, illness prevention, and health promotion to promote, maintain, or restore health. In many countries, physical therapists are referred to as physiotherapists. Other components of physical therapist profession include research, teaching, consultancy, and health administration, in addition to clinical treatment. Physical therapy can be used as a primary care treatment or in combination with other medical treatments. Physical therapists in certain countries, such as the United Kingdom, have the ability to prescribe drugs. Physical therapy treats diseases or injuries that impede a person’s ability to move and perform daily tasks. PTs evaluate an individual’s history and physical examination to make a diagnosis and develop a care plan, which may include laboratory and imaging testing if necessary. Electrodiagnostic testing is another option. Assistance with specialized exercises, manual therapy, and manipulation, as well as mechanical devices such as heat, cold, sound waves, and other treatments, are all typical features of PT management. Furthermore, physical therapists work with individuals to prevent the loss of mobility by developing fitness and wellness-oriented training programmes for healthier and more active lifestyles, as well as providing assistance to people and populations to develop, maintain, and restore maximum mobility and functional ability throughout their lives. This involves treating people whose mobility and function are being harmed by aging, injury, disease, or environmental causes. This is a branch of medicine that aids in healing musculoskeletal disorders and improving the function of the body. This type of therapy can take a long time but it can significantly improve the quality of life of patients.
